What To Do This Weekend 23.07.25
For A Celebratory Feast
Chutney Mary
Chutney Mary is marking 35 years in the game – and ten in its St James’s home – with a celebratory Chef’s Gourmand Menu. Back in 1990, the Chelsea original helped redefine Indian fine dining in London. These days, it’s still setting the bar. The multi-course menu (£95pp) brings together standout plates like Mangalorean scallops, tandoori lobster and a rich lamb chop roghan josh. For those going all in, there’s a wine pairing for an extra £50.
Chutney Mary, 73 St James's Street, St James’s, SW1A 1PH; until end of 2025

Try A New Spot
Brasserie Constance
Adam Byatt is back with a new riverside spot. Overlooking the Thames at Fulham Pier, Brasserie Constance serves up nostalgic British comfort food with a cool twist. The interiors pay homage to the elegance of mid-century hostess Constance Spry, while the menu showcases the best seasonal produce. On offer are elevated plates like smoked haddock croquettes, potted duck with rosehip jelly and slow-cooked clay pot chicken with barley and beer. Save room for the baked Alaska, which is flambéed at your table.

Future Of Food
Head to the Science Museum to discover the ways in which science is reshaping how we grow, eat and think about food. Future of Food is a free exhibition featuring everything from 3,500-year-old bread to lab-grown steaks. You’ll also see the first Quorn burger, cell-grown salmon and meat made at home. Alongside the tech, there are stories from around the world – including seed-sharing in the Amazon and vertical farming in Tokyo.

Speedboat Bar @ The Electric
Luke Farrell’s back with another hit – this time in Notting Hill. Speedboat Bar at The Electric is a fiery follow-up to his Soho original, channelling Bangkok’s Chinatown with wok-tossed noodles, whisky sodas and punchy street food flavours. Go for the Tom Yam Mama soup, minced beef with holy basil, and whole sea bream. It’s all about the mechanic-chic interiors, a live-fire kitchen and a full-size shuffleboard for post-dinner battles.

Virtual Beauty
Somerset House is exploring how beauty, gender and identity play out in the post-internet age. Virtual Beauty brings together work from over 20 artists – including ORLAN, Isamaya Ffrench and Frederik Heyman – with pieces ranging from AI-generated portraits to interactive installations and live-streamed facial surgery. There’s even a virtual shrine to Björk. Whether you’re a tech obsessive or just curious, it’s a fascinating look at digital self-curation in 2025.

Oslo Court
A gloriously old-school London institution where time stands still. Tucked beneath a grand Grade II-listed block in St John’s Wood, Oslo Court is a full-blown flashback to the 80s – think silver service, soufflés and serious charm.

Bunhead Bakery
After a dip in Brockwell Lido, make your way to the bricks-and-mortar spot from self-taught baker Sara Assad-Manning, just opposite the park. Her Palestinian heritage comes through in every bite – from syrup-soaked knafeh-inspired buns to those packed with punchy za’atar.

Holland Park
While the weather holds, head to Holland Park. The grounds alone are worth a visit – think woodlands, sports courts, play areas and even an eco centre – but tucked away inside is the serene Kyoto Garden, a peaceful spot perfect for enjoying a quiet moment away from the crowds.
